Do you know any “Cable Guys”?
No, I’m not asking this for service repairs.
I’m talking about people you know. You see them approaching on the street and immediately calculate escape routes. They call you and you answer the phone without checking who the caller is and you pray for a miraculous network outage…
You dodge the one occasion. But they come back, call you at inappropriate times, show up in your doorstep uninvited, stalking you big time.
Remember Matthew Broderick’s frustration? See the clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbIsqWpoCog
and you’ll know what I mean. If you are caught, you have to endure a boring, unrelated and uninteresting monologue. They don’t care whether you are actually interested or give a toss about what they’re telling you.
This is because the Cable People have no awareness of the impact they create, and everything is about them. They won’t ask you your opinion, process it and turn the monologue into a real conversation. Their own lack of personal awareness is disturbingly apparent. Makes you cringe, doesn’t it? How many of them are in your life?
I often ask my clients where their ripples would reach if they were pebbles tossed into a calm sea. Have you ever thought of that?
